Privacy policy
Last updated: November 1, 2026
English by Story (englishbystory.com) keeps as little about you as it can. Questions or requests: hello@englishbystory.com.
What we store
- Your email address — to sign you in and to send sign-in codes and messages about your plan.
- Your country (from your connection, not your exact location) — to understand where learners are.
- Reading progress — which stories you opened or finished, the last page, listening time, and your level test result — so you can continue where you stopped.
- Your plan — plan type, status and renewal date, and the Stripe customer number that links your account to your payments.
- How the site is used — pages opened, buttons such as Play, how far you read, where you first came from (for example a search engine), your device type, and any answers you give to our short questions. This is linked to a random number kept in your browser, not to your name, and we use it only to improve the stories and the site.
- Sign-in sessions — a secure cookie that keeps you signed in, plus the device type.
What we do not store
We never see or store your card details. Payments are handled by Stripe, which keeps the payment records it must keep by law. See stripe.com/privacy.
Services we use
- Cloudflare — hosting and our database.
- Stripe — payments and invoices.
- Resend — sending emails.
- Google Analytics — counting visits and which pages are used, with cookies. It does not receive your email address.
Your choices
- You can delete your account at any time on your Account page. This deletes your email, progress and sign-ins from our database at once. Payment records stay with Stripe, as the law requires.
- You can ask us for a copy of your data, or to correct it, by writing to hello@englishbystory.com.
- You can block analytics cookies in your browser; the site still works.
Changes
If we change this policy in an important way, we say so on this page and by email to members.
